Flybig is set to resume flight operations between Dehradun and Pithoragarh thrice a week
Flybig is set to resume flight operations between Dehradun and Pithoragarh thrice a week, marking the revival of services at Naini-Saini airport in Pithoragarh after a hiatus of over three years.
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted the significance of this resumption, stating that it will bring the Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand closer. The 19-seater aircraft flights, scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, aim to reduce the travel time between Pithoragarh and Dehradun from 11 hours by road to just 1 hour by air.
Scindia emphasized the government’s commitment to Uttarakhand’s development and divinity, expressing a personal connection to the state where he had studied for five years. The Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, underscored the potential boost in religious tourism in the Manaskhand region due to improved air connectivity. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jolingkong and Jageshwar Dham had ignited tourist interest in lesser-known religious destinations. Dhami expressed plans to request Flybig to increase the frequency of air services between Dehradun and Pithoragarh to cater to growing tourist demand. The resumption of flights is a crucial step for the strategically important border district, with plans to extend services to Pantnagar and Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad.
