Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package by Helicopter via Nepalgunj
A Journey beyond the material world.
At the very top of the world, where the Himalayas give way to the Tibetan plateau and the sky presses close to the earth, stands Mount Kailash. Not the tallest peak in the range. Not the most technically challenging. But the one that has drawn human beings across four thousand years of recorded history — Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Bon — in a pilgrimage of such power and persistence that it can only be called a calling. Kailash Parvat, at 6,638 metres, is believed to be the cosmic centre of the universe, the axis mundi, the home of Lord Shiva himself. Lake Mansarovar, nestled at its foot at 4,590 metres, is the highest freshwater lake in the world — and in Hindu tradition, it was formed by the mind of Lord Brahma (Manas = mind, Sarovar = lake), a place so sacred that a single dip washes away the sins of a hundred lifetimes. Our Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package 2026 (9 Days / 8 Nights, by Flight and Helicopter via Nepalgunj from Lucknow) is designed for the pilgrim who answers that calling. From Lucknow to Nepalgunj by road, then by air to Simikot, then by helicopter across the Nepal-Tibet border to Hilsa, and finally by vehicle through the Tibetan plateau to the shores of Mansarovar and the path around Kailash — every element of this journey is handled with care, expertise, and the deep respect that this pilgrimage deserves. Om Namah Shivaya
About Mount Kailash — Mythology & Geography
Mount Kailash (Kailash Parvat) rises to 6,638 metres in the Ngari Prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, in the western Himalayas. It is part of the Transhimalayan range, geographically distinct from the main Himalayan chain, and stands largely isolated — a pyramidal peak of extraordinary symmetry that appears almost supernatural in its geometry. No human being has ever climbed to its summit — not because it is technically impossible, but because every attempt has been abandoned out of reverence. It is considered so sacred by Hindus, Tibetan Buddhists, Jains, and followers of the Bon faith that to summit it would be considered a profound act of desecration. In Hindu tradition, Mount Kailash is the home of Lord Shiva — where he sits in eternal meditation with Goddess Parvati and the entire assembly of Shiva-ganas. It is believed that undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and completing the Parikrama (circumambulation) of the mountain washes away the sins of a full lifetime and brings the pilgrim one step closer to Moksha. The Kailash Yatra is considered the ultimate pilgrimage — beyond Char Dham, beyond Amarnath — because it is the journey to the very source
why choose this Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package by Helicopter via Nepalgunj
There are several routes to Kailash Mansarovar — the overland route from Kathmandu via Saga (14+ days), the Indian Government MEA route via Lipulekh (22+ days, lottery-based), and the helicopter route via Nepalgunj and Simikot. The helicopter route is the shortest, most comfortable, and most time-efficient path to the sacred mountain — and it is the route our 9D/8N package uses. Starting from Lucknow — the ideal departure point for pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and neighbouring states — the journey by road to Nepalgunj takes just 4–5 hours, followed by a flight to Simikot in western Nepal and then a chartered helicopter to Hilsa on the Nepal-Tibet border. From Hilsa, a comfortable vehicle transfer through spectacular Tibetan landscape takes you to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash. You still complete the full 52 km Kailash Parikrama on foot (with yak support for luggage) — but you arrive there in 3 days instead of 14. This is the yatra of the modern pilgrim: full spiritual completion, compressed timeline, maximum care. Om Namah Shivaya.
Sacred Sites on the Kailash Mansarovar Route (via Nepalgunj)
- Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu — One of the holiest Shiva temples in the world. Morning aarti + Rudrabhishek puja performed before the yatra begins. (For Kathmandu-based groups.)
- Khojernath / Ramsita Gompa, Purang — Ancient Tibetan Buddhist temple with meditation caves in Purang (Taklakot). A remarkable cultural stop on the drive from Hilsa to Mansarovar.
- Rakshas Taal (Ravan Hrada) — The 'demon lake' — a brackish lake near Mansarovar, believed to be the site of Ravana's penance to Lord Shiva. Dramatic and haunting in its empty beauty.
- Gauri Kund — A sacred glacial lake at 5,630m near the Dolma La — believed to be where Goddess Parvati bathed. Accessed during the Parikrama.
- Yam Dwar — The 'Gate of Yama' — the ceremonial entrance to the Kailash Parikrama at Darchen. Crossing Yam Dwar symbolically marks the beginning of the circumambulation.
- Saptarishi Caves — Caves associated with the seven great sages (Saptarishi) of Hindu tradition, located near the conclusion of the Parikrama at Zuthulpuk.
- Tirthapuri — Hot springs and an ancient Tibetan monastery near Purang, where pilgrims traditionally bathe and perform rituals after the Parikrama.
